- Polished & Sealed Concrete, Overlays | Capital Epoxy
Capital Epoxy Floors offers concrete systems including micro-toppings, sealed, polished, and self-leveling concrete for durable, easy-care surfaces. Polished Concrete, Sealed Concrete & Overlays in Mid-Missouri Micro-Toppings A concrete microtopping is a thin, durable overlay designed to transform and revitalize existing surfaces like concrete, tile, or wood with a sleek, seamless finish. Made from a specialized blend of cement, polymers, and other additives, it is applied in layers typically 1 to 3 millimeters thick, offering a customizable and contemporary aesthetic. Microtoppings are available in various colors, textures, and finishes—ranging from polished and glossy to matte or textured—creating a modern, minimalist look ideal for residential, commercial, and outdoor spaces. This versatile material is resistant to wear, moisture, and UV rays, making it suitable for high-traffic areas and exterior applications like patios and pool decks. Its installation involves surface preparation, the application of a bonding agent, thin-layer spreading, optional texturing, and sealing for added protection and longevity. Concrete microtoppings are a cost-effective, time-saving, and eco-friendly solution, eliminating the need for demolition and reducing waste by utilizing existing surfaces. They are easy to maintain and require periodic resealing to retain their durability and visual appeal, making them a practical choice for achieving high-end designs without the hassle of traditional construction methods. Sealed Concrete Sealed Concrete is simply a concrete surface which has been ground smooth and had clear sealer applied. There are a variety of different sealer options including acrylic sealers, epoxies, and urethane coatings. These floors require significantly less grinding than polished concrete, which makes them a more economical option without sacrificing durability. Floors can often be ground to expose more aggregate if desired. A wide selection of UV stable dyes and stains can also be used to add color. This is done to the finish before the sealer is applied. Final sealer top coats are available in gloss, satin, and matte finishes. Anti-slip additives can also be used. Even with all the different options, the concrete itself in these floors, determines more about the final look, then anything else. Sealed Concrete floors are mold and mildew resistant. They offer excellent color retention as well. They can even be finished to offer high chemical resistance! With the popularity of the ‘industrial’ look, it’s no wonder many offices, restaurants, galleries and even home-owners are opting for sealed concrete in their spaces. Polished Concrete Polished concrete is an economical flooring solution that offers industrial strength while exhibiting the raw beauty of concrete. The process involves grinding the concrete surface with finer and finer diamond tooling. The multi-step process allows for choice of sheen, anywhere from matte to a high gloss finish. As the floors are being ground a hardener or densifier is applied to strengthen the floor, increase abrasion resistance and stain resistance, while decreasing natural concrete dusting. Stain guards are typically applied as a final step to add even greater stain resistance. Stains and dyes can be applied to change or enhance the color of the concrete. Self-Leveling Concrete Self-Leveling concrete overlays are polymer modified materials that have the ability to self-level with minimal or no troweling. They can be applied in thin applications while maintaining a good bond with the substrate because of the added polymers. These materials can easily correct uneven floors or repair damaged concrete. They can also provide a new suitable surface for decorative treatments or other types of traditional flooring such as tile, carpet, LVT and hardwoods. Their fast curing properties make them an excellent choice for quick turn-around jobs. In many cases they can be sealed in as little as two hours. VCT or tile installations can proceed in as little as twelve hours. Self–Leveling materials are often used to repair damaged or uneven floors. They can be used for decorative purposes with the use of integral colors. Aggregates can be added that are then exposed during polishing. They can be saw cut or engraved. They can take stains and dyes. They can even incorporate decorative inlays such as wood or metal. Installations range from ¼” up to 2” in a single application. They can go as thick as 5” with an aggregate additive. There are two main types of self-leveling concrete overlay materials. The first are those used as underlayments, where another coating or floor material will be installed over the self-leveling material and will serve as the finish floor. These materials are cheaper, and often have a lower PSI strength than their counterparts, Polishable Self-Levelers. Polishable Self-Levelers have a high PSI, which can be 2-3 times that of traditional concrete. They can be polished like traditional concrete, making that an option when the existing concrete substrate isn’t suitable.. They can be used in offices, warehouses, retail spaces, galleries, and utility rooms. These installs are perfect for places requiring a smooth, sturdy, flat surface and are extremely versatile with finishing options like sealing, micro-topping, epoxy coating, or polishing. - FAQ | Capital Epoxy Floors | Epoxy Flooring Questions Answered
Answers to common questions about epoxy flooring cost, durability, installation, and industrial flooring solutions from Capital Epoxy Floors, serving Central Missouri. Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is epoxy flooring and how is it different from paint? A: Epoxy flooring is a multi-layer resin coating that chemically bonds to concrete, creating a durable, seamless, chemical- and stain-resistant surface — unlike paint, which just sits on top and wears off. Q: How long does epoxy or polyaspartic flooring last? A: With proper installation and normal use, a professionally installed coating system can last for years. Surface preparation quality — diamond grinding or shot blasting the concrete correctly — is the biggest factor in longevity. Q: How much does epoxy floor coating cost? A: Cost depends on square footage, surface condition, and the coating system chosen. Contact us for a free, no-obligation estimate specific to your space. Q: How long does installation take? A: Timelines vary by project size and prep needs. We'll give you a specific schedule as part of your free estimate. Q: Can epoxy be applied over existing or damaged concrete? A: In most cases, yes. Our surface prep and demo process — diamond grinding, shot blasting, patching, and leveling — prepares even worn or damaged concrete for a durable finish. Q: Do you install industrial flooring? A: Yes — we install industrial flooring systems including quartz, urethane cement, and heavy-duty epoxy coatings built for warehouses, manufacturing plants, and industrial facilities throughout Central Missouri. Q: What areas do you serve? A: Jefferson City , Columbia , Linn, Fulton, Hermann, Mexico, Washington, Union, the Lake of the Ozarks, and the greater Mid-Missouri area, for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

Grinding and shot blasting to CSP 2-3, plus removal of tile, VCT, carpet, mastics, and old coatings in Central Missouri. Call 573-378-0332. Concrete Surface Prep & Flooring Removal in Central Missouri Demo We have been doing commercial flooring removal and surface preparation for many years. We have established a great reputation with contractors and business owners alike for timely, efficient, and quality service. We can remove: Ceramic and Quarry tile Carpet VCT Linoleum Mastics and Adhesives High build epoxy coatings Quartz Parking deck coatings Surface Prep Surface Prep is the process of preparing a surface for the installation of coatings, concrete overlays, or toppings. Floors must be effectively prepped to ensure good adhesion of the new material being applied. The concrete surface profile, or CSP, is a standardized measure for the ‘roughness’ of a surface that is defined by the International Concrete Repair Institute. The industry standard for concrete floors receiving a coating is a CSP 2-3. This is achieved through grinding or shot blasting. Both of these processes remove the weaker cream at the surface while simultaneously removing any surface contaminants. After a good vacuuming the exposed surface will have a texture or profile like sandpaper. This allows for a good mechanical bond between the new coating and the existing concrete surface. Any topical contaminates such as glues, adhesives, paints, and patch materials are typically removed during the surface prep process. Contact Us For A Free Estimate CALL US AT 573-378-0332

Adding more space to the same job, such as an adjoining garage, a shop area or a basement, changes the price. Basements and finished interiors are typically priced higher than a standard garage flake floor. Damaged concrete like this is repaired before coating. A flake garage floor with coated stem walls. lower-priced-quotes Why Some Garage Floor Quotes Are Much Lower When one quote comes in far below the others, the difference is usually in steps you can't see once the floor is down. Here's what lower-priced quotes often leave out, and what we do instead. Prep Lower-priced quotes often: skip grinding and roll the coating onto concrete that has only been cleaned. Our Flake Floor System: diamond grinding on every floor, so the base coat bonds to sound concrete. Coating thickness Lower-priced quotes often: use a single thin coat. Our Flake Floor System: an epoxy base coat, a full flake broadcast and a separate polyaspartic topcoat. Flake Lower-priced quotes often: scatter a light sprinkle of flake. Our Flake Floor System: a full broadcast of flake across the entire floor. Repairs Lower-priced quotes often: coat right over cracks and damaged sections. Our Flake Floor System: cracks filled and damaged sections fixed before anything gets coated. Warranty Lower-priced quotes often: offer no written workmanship warranty. Our Flake Floor System: a 5-Year Residential Workmanship Warranty. If the coating peels or delaminates due to our installation, we will repair it at no charge. When you compare quotes, ask each contractor how they prep the concrete, how many coats go down, whether the flake is a full broadcast, how cracks are handled and what the warranty covers in writing. Most two-car garages range from about $2,300 to $3,200 for our Flake Floor System, installed over diamond-ground concrete. Larger garages and removing an old coating cost more, and the estimate is free. Does a three-car garage cost more? Yes. Larger garages take more material and more time, so a three-car or oversized garage costs more than the two-car range. We give you an exact price after we see the space. How much more does it cost to remove an old epoxy coating? Removing an old coating costs more than coating bare concrete. We look at the existing floor during your free estimate and include removal in your written quote. Do cracks or concrete damage change the price? Routine crack repair is included in the price, at no extra charge. If a slab has major damage, we discuss it with you at the estimate. Do you charge more for travel? Final pricing depends on garage size, slab condition and travel distance. Our shop is in Linn, MO, and we serve Jefferson City, Columbia, the Lake of the Ozarks and the greater Mid-Missouri area. Is coating the stem walls extra? Stem walls are typically priced as an add-on. Steps, landings, garage entries and drains are usually included in the garage price. Why are some garage floor quotes so much lower? Lower-priced quotes often skip diamond grinding, use a single thin coat, coat over cracks, or come without a written workmanship warranty. Our Flake Floor System goes over diamond-ground concrete with an epoxy base coat, a full flake broadcast and a polyaspartic topcoat, and residential flake floors carry our 5-Year Residential Workmanship Warranty. - Epoxy, Flake & Quartz Floor Coatings | Capital Epoxy
Flake, polyaspartic, epoxy quartz, metallic, and urethane cement floors for garages, commercial kitchens, and warehouses in Mid-Missouri. Free estimates. Epoxy, Flake, Quartz & Metallic Floor Coating Systems Flake Flake floors are a seamless flooring solution composed of layers of epoxy or polyaspartic coatings and a full broadcast of decorative vinyl chips. These floors mimic the appearance of granite or terrazzo and provide a durable, slip-resistant surface. They also offer virtually unlimited design possibilities. The installation process involves applying an epoxy or polyaspartic base coat, broadcasting the flakes into it, and then applying a protective topcoat. The flakes add durability by creating an aggregate layer, which enhances the texture and reduces slipperiness. Installations can include a single broadcast or a double broadcast. A double broadcast creates a thicker, more durable coating. Topcoats can be customized to suit specific site conditions, including the addition of aggregates for enhanced slip resistance, increased chemical resistance, or improved UV stability. For food production facilities, food-safe antimicrobial options are also available. The multi-colored pattern of flake floors is ideal for camouflaging dirt and debris. These floors also resist surface abrasion and hot tire pickup, making them a popular choice for garages. Flake floors meet ADA, USDA, FDA, and OSHA standards. Typical applications include food production facilities, laboratories, restrooms, schools, locker rooms, clinical sites, veterinary offices, kennels, garages, or any location where the substrate requires protection from medium to heavy use. Serving Columbia? See our epoxy flooring in Columbia, MO page. Quartz Epoxy Quartz or Quartz Broadcast Floors are a decorative resin floor consisting of layers or resin and multi-colored quartz sand. These high build coatings created with 100% solids epoxy and quartz offer excellent impact resistance. The multi-colored patterns help camouflage dirt while maintaining a clean look. Epoxy Quartz floors are typically done in a double broadcast. The resulting floors are between 1/8” and 3/16” thick. A polyurethane or polyaspartic top coat provides additional chemical resistance and abrasion resistance. Epoxy Quartz floors meet ADA, USDA, FDA, and OSHA standards and are VOC compliant and contribute to LEED. Quartz aggregate is available in fine (Q28) and coarse (Q11) sizes. The larger quartz produces a higher build and more durable floor, although both offer much greater impact resistance than other types of coatings. Quartz flooring is designed for institutional, commercial and retail spaces where a durable, easy to clean and sanitary surface is desired. They will stand up to medium to heavy duty use. Typical applications include food preparation, laboratories, restrooms, food service, clinical sites, pet care, and garage floors. Metallic Our designer floors combine different resins with numerous pigments to create one-of-a-kind installations. We utilize metallic pigments, color shifts, pearl effects, and glow pigments. We can embed objects or logos in the floor for branding and colors can be custom mixed. Our skilled installers can use tools as well as different application methods to create effects, making the possibilities truly endless. Our designer epoxy systems achieve excellent adhesion to concrete, wood and other substrates. Top coats are available in matte, satin or gloss finishes as well as with different levels of slip resistance. Our designer floors are resistant to abrasion, chemicals, hot tire pick up, and UV exposure. They are compliant with USDA, FDA, ADA, and OSHA standards. Antimicrobial formulations are also available. These floors are long lasting and low maintenance. This unique floor system will set you apart from the competition. These floors have depth, beauty and industrial strength making them a great choice for retail spaces, showrooms, galleries, restaurants, tattoo parlors, office spaces, hair salons and more. Urethane Cement Urethane Cement is a high performance cementitious based coating material with a urethane binder. It is designed to perform in harsh environments such as beverage warehouses, food processing facilities and chemical facilities. Also referred to as polyurethane mortar, cementitious urethane, urethane mortar, or urethane concrete, this material better withstands high temperature fluctuations, chemical contamination and high moisture content or vapor emissions, than traditional coatings. A urethane cement floor system combines the best attributes of many other resin floor systems. While they aren’t cheap, their performance isn’t easily matched. These floors tenaciously bond to properly prepared substrates and are able to withstand high moisture vapor. This makes them ideal for installs over green concrete. The self-leveling trowel applied material can be installed over tile, brick, quarry tile, and even over plywood substrates. Floors range in thickness from 1/8” to 3/8”. The heavy aggregate content also makes them extremely durable. Engineered to withstand rapid and deep thermal cycling, these floors will hold up to hot pressure washes, hot grease spills, and flash freezing, where thermal shock would cause other materials to fail. The rapid cure time of urethane cement installations allow for forklift traffic in as little as 24 hours, making them ideal for quick return to service jobs.
